The Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) has held its First Quarter Religious Parade on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at the School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) Auditorium, Nutekpor.
The parade also served as a farewell and thanksgiving service for Sailors of Batch 62 (BT 62), who are due to retire after years of dedicated service to the Ghana Armed Forces. The service, held under the theme “Humble Service in God Leads to Success,” provided an opportunity for spiritual reflection and renewal for all personnel of the Command.
Beyond honouring the retirees, the religious parade aimed at strengthening the moral and spiritual well-being of officers, ratings, and Defence Civilian Staff. It reinforced the importance of faith, integrity, humility, and selfless service in both military and personal life, while fostering unity and a sense of shared purpose among personnel.Speaking on the theme, the invited speaker, Reverend Nelson Kwame Tetteh, an ordained minister of the Global Evangelical Presbyterian Church and Chaplain at Sogakope Senior High School, emphasised that humble service to God and humanity is the foundation of lasting success. He encouraged both the retirees and serving personnel to remain steadfast in their faith, uphold the values of discipline and integrity, and continue to serve as positive examples in their communities. He further noted that the virtues cultivated during military service, commitment, loyalty, and sacrifice, are essential for a fulfilling life beyond the uniform. The Command Imam, Sub-Lieutenant Yusha Faith, also delivered an exhortation, urging personnel to uphold righteousness, gratitude, and trust in God in all their undertakings. She offered prayers for divine guidance, protection, and wisdom for both the retirees transitioning into civilian life and the serving personnel as they continue to discharge their duties.
In his remarks, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) NAVTRAC, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, expressed profound appreciation to the retiring soldiers for their unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to the Ghana Armed Forces. He commended them for their years of meritorious service and encouraged them to remain ambassadors of the Armed Forces in their communities. The FOC further highlighted the importance of the religious parade as a platform for nurturing the spiritual resilience of all personnel. He noted that strong moral and spiritual values are essential for effective leadership, discipline, and operational success. Commodore Agambire, therefore, urged serving personnel to remain committed to their duties while upholding the ethical standards and traditions of the Ghana Navy. The service featured prayers, hymns, Quranic recitations, and exhortations from the clergy, fostering spiritual reflection, unity, and thanksgiving among personnel. The parade forms part of NAVTRAC’s routine spiritual activities aimed at promoting moral values, discipline, and the overall well-being of its personnel.
