The Navy Recruit Training School (NRTS) has held an induction religious parade for the first batch of naval recruits on Sunday, 10 May 2026, at the school’s Lecture Hall, Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor. The religious parade formed part of activities marking the commencement of training for the recruits and was aimed at seeking divine guidance, protection, and strength throughout their training period and future careers in the Ghana Navy.
Addressing the recruits, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) NAVTRAC, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, congratulated them on their successful recruitment and safe arrival at NAVTRAC to commence training. He noted that their selection into the Ghana Navy was not a small achievement, having gone through a competitive process, and urged them to prove themselves worthy of the confidence reposed in them. The FOC further reminded the recruits that military service is a calling that demands sacrifice, discipline, courage, loyalty, and commitment to excellence. He encouraged them to embrace the training process with humility and determination, stressing that every aspect of the training is intended to shape them into stronger, disciplined, and capable naval personnel. He also urged the recruits to remain focused, respect their instructors, support one another, and avoid all forms of misconduct that could undermine their future. Commodore Agambire added that true strength is not only found in physical ability, but also in character, integrity, self-control, and faithful service to duty.In his sermon, the Director Naval Religious Affairs (DNRA), Commander (Cdr) David Quayson, encouraged the recruits to place God at the centre of their training and service, noting that faith, discipline, and integrity are essential qualities of every successful serviceman and woman. He urged them to remain steadfast in the face of challenges, uphold good moral values, and conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the uniform they have chosen to wear.Present at the ceremony were the Director Naval Training, Naval Captain Nathaniel Osei-Brobbey, the Training Coordinator, NAVTRAC, Naval Captain David Dela Kpetigo, the Commanding Officers of the Supply Application School (SAS) and the Naval Recruit Training School (NRTS), as well as representatives from sister security services.
