The Western Naval Command (WNC) conducted a clean-up and voluntary blood donation exercise at Essikado Hospital on Thursday, 11 December 2025, as part of its End-of-Year West Africa Soldiers Social (WASSA) Activities. This also forms part of the Command’s corporate social responsibility towards the Essikado community and its environs.
The exercise saw scores of Officers, Ratings, and Defence Civilian Staff sweeping the hospital compounds, desilting drains, trimming vegetation, and painting, among others. Additionally, some personnel from the Command donated blood to the hospital’s blood bank unit as part of the activities. This initiative aimed to provide much-needed support to replenish stocks of blood for both emergency and routine medical cases at the Hospital.
Speaking at the exercise, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), WNC, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, commended the personnel for their dedication to service beyond their core operational duties and pledged the Command's continued support to the community.
Mrs Doris Teiko Acquaye, Head of Administration at Essikado Hospital, also expressed appreciation to the Western Naval Command (Ghana Navy) for the timely support.
